What is needed: 26’ Box Truck
Haven City Church has free access to $1,000,000 worth of food on a monthly basis. We just need a truck to pick it up.
For the last three years we have been renting a truck, picking up the food, and feeding hundreds of families in the neighborhood. We have done this because we believe it practically demonstrates the Gospel message.
We believe the purchase of a truck would be a better stewardship decision as we compare the cost of ownership vs. the current rental/lease rates.
Here is the backstory! (Since that article the available food has increased substantially.)

Q. Why not raise money to lease?
A. Our financial partners have indicated that they are more inclined to give towards a one-time project vs. funding an ongoing monthly expense.

Q. Why distribute free food? Shouldn’t a church just do evangelism?
A. Why not both? Our weekly food distribution is one of the most fruitful times of evangelism and outreach throughout the week. The work we are doing with food is an amazing witness to the city of God’s generous care for humans.

Q. Why not sell the food to fund the expenses of the truck?
A. The food is given to us so that it can be distributed free of charge. We are not allowed to sell food and we don’t have a desire to be in the business of selling food.
